PDP rejects INEC's decision to allow APC substitute late Audu

The party claimed that the move is a plot by INEC, the AGF and the APC to rob the Kogi people of their right to freely and fairly choose their leader.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for the resignation of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Mr Abubakar Malami, for advising that the All Progressives Congress (APC) could field another candidate to replace the late Abubakar Audu in the Kogi governorship election.
Seemingly adopting the Attorney General's advise, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earlier announced that it would allow the APC to substitute Audu, as a rerun election in 91 polling units was slated for December 5.
In a statement signed by the PDP's spokesman, Olisa Metuh, the party expressed shock at INEC's decision, questioning its credibility as an 'independent' body.
“INEC, a supposedly independent electoral umpire, could allow itself to succumb to the antics of the APC by following the unlawful directive of an obviously partisan AGF to substitute a candidate in the middle of the ballot process”, the statement said.
The party claimed that the move is a plot by INEC, the AGF and the APC to rob the Kogi people of their right to freely and fairly choose their leader.
The statement further read: “We are all aware that the two legal documents guiding INEC in the conduct of elections; the Constitution and the Electoral Act, have provisions for electoral exigencies as well as empower the electoral body to fully take responsibility for any of its actions or inaction without undue interference from any quarters whatsoever.
“We are therefore at a loss as to which sections of these two relevant laws, INEC and the AGF relied on in arriving at their bizarre decision to substitute a dead candidate in an on-going election even after the timelines for such has elapsed under all the rules.
“INEC as a statutory body has the full complements of technical hands in its legal department to advice it appropriately and we wonder why it had to wait for directives from the AGF, an external party, if not for partisan and subjective interest”.
It added that the development is “a brazen move by the APC and INEC to circumvent the laws and ambush the yet-to-be concluded election by introducing a practice that is completely alien to the constitution and the Electoral Act”.

Idris WadaKogi Gov. sacks 15 LG Chairmen for defecting to APC

The statement explained that the chairmen cannot remain in office having dumped the party that sponsored them - the People's Democratic Party (PDP)

Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada, has sacked 15 local government chairmen for defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This was disclosed in a statement released in Lokoja, the state capital, on Tuesday, Nov. 24, by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr James Adedoyin,
The government backed the removal of the 15 Chairmen with the  section 20 sub section ( 1) and section 36 sub section 1 (d) of Kogi State Local Government Law 2000 as amended.
Some of the sacked chairmen are of Lokoja, Ogori-Magongo, Idah, Adavi, Ankpa, Okehi, Bassa, Yagba East, Yagba West and Okene among others.
The statement explained that the chairmen cannot remain in office having dumped the party that sponsored them - the People's Democratic Party (PDP).
It directed the vice chairmen or council leaders to assume the affairs of the local governments while warning the affected chairmen not to go near their offices.
According to the governor, the handing over is expected to be effected tomorrow, Nov. 25.
The affected chairmen, had primarily, defected to the APC on the ground that Wada failed to carry out the Appeal court ruling of Oct. 29, which nullified the removal of the elected chairmen from office.
They were removed from office based on the order of a Kogi State High Court sitting in Koton Karfe which ruled that the election of May 4, 2013 which brought them into office was shady.
Based on the judgement, the state Government directed the chairmen to vacate office. But they headed to the Appeal Court to contest their removal, in which the court set aside the ruling and declared that they resume immediately.
However, the Kogi state government failed to effect the appeal court ruling.

Olamide has been knocked out on 'Eyan Mayweather'

Olamide doesn't deliver a knock out punch with his latest album
Album cover of Olamide's fifth album, Eyan Mayweather. Album cover of Olamide's fifth album, Eyan Mayweather.
Album- Eyan Mayweather
Artiste- Olamide
Producer- B. Banks, Pheelz, Young John, and I.D Cabasa
Record Label- YBNL (2015)
Duration- 1 hour, 18 minutes
For four years Olamide has been on an unprecedented run.
It all started in 2011 with his raw and unpolished debut album 'RapSoDi'. The following year the kid from the slums of Bariga snatched rap music from the established Hip Hop kings with his dazzling street oriented sophomore 'YBNL' in 2012.
In 2013, he slaughtered pretenders to his throne with his third album 'Baddest Guy Ever Liveth'. In his tradition of dropping an album every year, Olamide released 'Street OT' in 2014 where he flaunted the strength of his YBNL Empire.
Tracklist of Eyan Mayweather
(YBNL)

In April 2015 he solidified his alliance with the King of the East Phyno with the history making collaborative LP 2 Kings. The album was no Watch The Throne, and even though a few cracks appeared it was enough to allow Olamide have the rap game in the chokehold.
Through sweat, hard work, tenacity and ambition, Olamide has been at the summit of the Nigerian rap game since 2012. Largely responsible for the explosion of indigenous rap, Olamide’s street raps delivered in Yoruba has made him unrivalled.
Hence that’s why his latest and fifth solo album 'Eyan Mayweather' is inspired by the undefeated achievements of boxing champion, the flashy and cocky Floyd Mayweather.
This album however is not a victory for Olamide. In his latest effort, the rapper comes up against his greatest foe yet, himself, and gets defeated.
Olamide turns 25 Olamide turns 25
(YBNL)

In his usual manner this new LP is lengthy, 21 tracks spanning 1 hour, 18 minutes. While Olamide has been able to get away with the excessively high amount of songs on his past albums, he can’t wiggle out this time.
Surprisingly after so many albums, Olamide has refused to grow past his primary subject matter of hustle, hustle, and more hustle. On this album he is a king whose state of mind has refused to grow to accommodate his vast empire.
With a repetitive theme that is boring and nauseous, Olamide loses the interest of the listener very quick.
The album opens up with ‘Eyan Mayweather’ which sees Olamide banging his chest about his recent historic accomplishment- sold out shows in Lagos, London, America and Malaysia. Let’s take a minute to applaud him world conquering efforts.
He quickly follows up the Pheelz produced track with ‘Inferiority Complex’ (another Pheelz joint) which is a groovy Afrobeat based song. On the chorus he advises people with problems to leave everything to God- an obvious subject matter but Olamide’s Afrobeat crooning makes it enjoyable.
Olamide is widely known as Baddo play Olamide is widely known as Baddo
(YBNL)

Eyan Mayweather sadly loses the plot from here on, as early as the third track titled ‘Don’t Stop’. The song suffers from childish production and the usual ‘ass’ talk, a subject matter that Olamide can no longer possibly offer anything new on.
The misfiring tracks come quick and fast after this. The B. Banks produced song ‘Where The Man’ has Olamide flirting a little bit with dancehall. With a limp chorus and a punch line like “Charlie make dem lock up/I no dey show Messi no be world cup” the song is skippable.
Igara’, ‘Boom Boom Boom’ and ‘Ball’ don’t do this album any favours. The chorus of the latter song is a copy of T.I’s hit ‘Ball’. On the song ‘Boom Boom Boom’ Olamide sings out these corny lines- “I’m the future no Ciara/I hit the nail on the head-MC Hammer.
On ‘Be Happy’ which samples ‘Pon De Floor’ by Major Lazer, Olamide aimlessly raps on a beat. While he has the courage for trying a new sound, the end result shouldn't have made the album.
YBNL CEO, Olamide and his mum YBNL CEO, Olamide and his mum
(Olamide Adedeji)

For a rapper who reps the hood and has goons, Olamide flirts a lot with too much of contemporary Highlife singing on this project. He has always done this on his other albums, but this time around he doesn’t have the hits or bangers to justify his foray into the land of non-rap commercial success.
Yes the singles ‘Bobo’ and ‘Melo Melo’ are hits, but the remaining non-rap tracks weigh down the album considerably.
On ‘Say Something’ he sings in Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa to try and catch that national appeal but his crowd pleasing effort doesn’t score him a hit. 'Matters Arising', 'Mama Mi', and 'Toriomo' are examples of Olamide’s crooning got bad.
Besides the theme flaw, another drawback on 'Eyan Mayweather' is that there are no guest appearances. On his past albums, Olamide still had enough fuel in him to power his albums. Last year he featured his YBNL princes on Street OT which energized him into delivering his trademark bars.
Olamide is not emotionally layered enough to carry a whole album by himself. His solo effort is not thought provoking or introspective enough to hold you spellbound. Even when he tries to go personal and reminisce about his mother on ‘Mama Mi’ it doesn’t strike a chord. La familia materials like this have been covered in more vivid and moving details on past songs such as ‘Anifowose’ on #BGEL, and ‘1999’ on Street OT.

(Press)

The production on this LP also falls short. Olamide’s longtime producer Pheelz who handles majority of the production has exhausted himself creatively. It is clear that both rapper and producer need some time out.
The two last tracks ‘Jega’, and ‘OG Waheedee’, are cuts that show Olamide at his best, but songs like these are very few on the album.
It’s been a great run for Olamide, five solo albums in five years is the stuff of legends. A classic album is also a feature of rap legends. With 'Eyan Mayweather' Olamide has not scored one, and unless he re-invents himself his stellar career might be short of a classic.
Nigeria’s rap Mayweather has been knocked out in Round 5. Can he get up and defeat his biggest foe, himself? Well, we have to watch, and see but I won’t bet against him.
The legend of Olamide continues…

Clergy women warn Biafra supporters

Robberson also advised the youth to seek for more peaceful ways of airing their grievances, rather than resorting to dialogue.

Agitations by members of the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), have come under heavy criticism by many prominent Nigerians.
A group called Nigerian Women in Clergy, has also called on the Biafra agitators to sheath their swords and follow the path of dialogue.
The leader of the group,  Prophetess Nonnie Robberson, in a statement said  “I was conceived and born during the Biafran war, and it hurts me so much when I recall the pain my mother went through during the period. Reviving this agitation through street protests will further re-awaken the scars most of us have decided to leave behind; hence it’s time to shield the sword.”
“Even though the demand for self- determination appears to be within the United Nations charter provisions, the way we go about it will either make or mar our good intention. I will advise that we change our approach as we make our demands. “
Robberson also advised the youth to seek for more peaceful ways of airing their grievances, rather than resorting to dialogue.
The group also called for the immediate and unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained IPOB leader.

The 50 year old movie star in a recent interview with New Telegraph spoke about the father of her 13 year old son Raymond, and her parenting challenges.
She also said that having a child outside of wedlock was a mistake. “It was not a deliberate choice that I made, it came by chance, and it came by mistake. God does not kill His children who have made mistakes. He would rather sustain them and tell them that He is the owner of all things” she said.

The Lord has been sustaining me as a single parent I don’t think about it, all I know is God, you are the one that created me and the child that you gave to me. So God will provide whatever that is needed of me, it was a wrong choice that I made” she further said.
She tried to reconcile with the father of her child, but according to her he isn’t ready. “When somebody says that I do not want to be a responsible father what do you do? You don’t take a horse to the river and force it to drink.

Eucharia Anunobi is not averse to settling down however. “Every woman says I want a tall black, handsome man. We all need good things. All the good things every normal woman wants, I want it too. He must be somebody who has the spirit of God, someone who has Christ as his backbone” she admitted.

Eucharia Anunobi is now an Evangelist.
In September she joined the cast of the M-NET soap opera Tinsel. In the series she plays the role of Claudia Ojeme, wife of Japheth Ojeme and mother to Jared, whose character is aimed at making her son give up of his passion of becoming a professional biker.

In a recent interview with Encomium, Naeto C said he would have never had a baby outside of wedlock even if he wasn't married.

"People intentionally want baby mama for their own reasons. At times, it is accidental. Part of the reasons I decided to get married when I did was because I didn’t want to find myself in that situation. I don’t believe in raising kids out of wedlock, it is not easy. It is very difficult. If I wasn’t married, I would be more concerned about settling down than having a friend who will give me a baby" he said in the interview.

Party demands resignation of INEC chairman

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has demanded immediate resignation of the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Malam Abubakar Malami and the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.
PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh who briefed newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja, also rejected INEC’s call on the All Progressives Congress (APC) to replace its governorship candidate for the Kogi poll.
He said that the AGF should vacate his office for "hurrying and misleading’’ INEC into arriving at an "unconstitutional decision’’ to allow the APC substitute its candidate in the inconclusive Kogi election.
Metuh said that PDP was `shocked’ that INEC could allow itself to succumb to the antics of unlawful directive of the AGF to substitute a candidate in the middle of the ballot process.
Metuh said that the PDP was taken aback why INEC, a statutory body with full complements of technical hands in its legal department would wait for directives of external party on the matter.
"Consequently, the PDP rejected in its entirety, the move to circumvent the laws and ambush the yet-to-be concluded election by introducing a practice that is completely alien to the constitution and the electoral act.
"The clear implication of this action of the AGF and INEC is that the APC would be fielding two different governorship candidates in the on-going Kogi election.
"This means that INEC would be transferring votes cast for late Prince Abubakar Audu to another candidate, scenarios that have no place in the constitution of the land,’’ he said.
Metuh said that since the PDP in respect for the dead, had since Sunday refrained from making comments on the Kogi election, the party could no longer maintain such in the face of the `barefaced attack’ on Nigeria’s democracy.
He said that INEC under the leadership of Yakubu had shown itself as `partisan, morally bankrupt and obviously incapable’ of conducting a credible election.
"In view of the foregoing therefore, the PDP demands the immediate resignation of the INEC chairman.
"The call is important as the nation’s democracy cannot afford to be left in the hands of an electoral umpire that cannot exert its independence and the sanctity of the electoral process.’’
He said that the PDP National Working Committee had summoned an emergency National Caucus meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 25 to take decision on the ``obvious threat to Nigeria’s democracy.’’

The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), John Oyegun told newsmen that the party will hold fresh primary elections to pick a new Gubernatorial candidate, to run for the supplementary elections in Kogi.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) decided to allow the APC replace Audu while before conducting the supplementary elections in 91 polling units on December 5, 2015.
APC’s decision to field a new candidate, is contrary to Festus Keyamo’s call for Audu’s running mate to be declared the Governor of the state.
A former Minister of Works, Chief Adeseye Ogunlewe, has called on the Federal Government to investigate the death of Audu.
During the burial of the Late APC chieftain, a prophet was almost lynched by youths.

The governorship candidate for the All Progressives Congress, APC in Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu, reportedly passed away on Sunday 22nd November.
New details emerging show Audu did not die because the elections were declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
According to Premium Times, his problems began on Saturday evening when he began complaining of stomach pain.
A close associate said, “He suffered a stroke this morning. Another one occurred this afternoon and that was fatal.”
The source added that the former governor suddenly took ill and was being rushed to Abuja preparatory to being flown abroad when he passed on.
Phillip Obin, one of his media aides, did not answer or return calls. His son also didn't answer or return calls.
He was aged 68.
