Woman in prison for stealing pastor's fowls in Osun

A woman the invasion of a poultry farm to steal 1,600 fowls belonging to a pastor has been remanded in prison in Osun State.

A 40-year-old woman identified as Regina Philip, has been dragged before a Chief Magistrates' Court sitting in Oshogbo, Osun State, for allegedly    stealing 1,600 fowls elonging to a woman of God,  Pastor Titilayo Aluko.

Punch reports that Philip and seven other accomplices, Yinka Odebiyi, Samson Ayoola, Grace Odeh, Elizabeth Ankira, Cecelia Ochili, Hannah Ankira and Oyelami Tajudeen, had broken into the poultry belonging to the pastor and stole the chickens alued at N1.5 million.

The police prosecutor handling the case told the court that Philip, Odebiyi, and the other defendants who are now at large, stole the fowls from the farms of Pastor Aluko on July 5 at Erin-Osun, Osogbo.

The charge sheet read in part:

“That you Regina Philip and Odebiyi Yinka, and others at large, on or before July 5, 2016, at Erin-Osun in the Osogbo Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony, to wit: stealing, thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2003.”

When the charges were read to the defendants, they pleaded not guilty and the Magistrate, Olusola Aluko, ordered that they be remanded in custody and adjourned the case till November 25, 2016.
